Psychosocial Forum

On the 20th of October 2023, the Family Rehabilitation Centre (FRC) organized a psychosocial forum in the collaborative funded project from GIZ at the Chief Secretary's office in the Northern Province. This forum aimed to bring together decision-makers from various organisations and find effective solutions to the ongoing psychosocial concerns in the Northern Province.

The event saw the attendance of the Chief Secretary and a gathering of decision-makers from various organizations and provided a platform for open discussions and finding effective solutions. The forum was also joined by representatives from different sectors such as health, education, government agencies and NGOs, including the MOMH Focal Point of RDHS Vavuniya, counselling officers, and representatives from Shanthiham and Aarudhal organisations. The Director of Development Education from the Ministry of Education, Provincial Resource Centre, and Ministry of Health also participated in the forum on psychosocial concerns in the Northern province. The event significantly marks World Mental Health Day with insightful sessions on rights and mental well-being by Dr Mahesan Ganeshan one of the Director of FRC.

The event was a successful and significant step towards addressing the psychosocial concerns in the Northern Province. The decision-makers present at the forum were able to identify key issues and develop action plans to address them effectively. The FRC and GIZ's efforts to bring together decision- makers from various organisations have proven to be instrumental in finding solutions and bringing about positive change in the community. The forum ended with all participants' renewed commitment to work together towards addressing psychosocial concerns and promoting holistic well-being in the Northern Province.
